I went into the forest

leave a comment »

I went into the forest and looked for death
And found a corpse, indeed, of a wild boar
Upon the moist debris of leaves and
jungle litter fed on by rhizomes and other
insects of decay
But with the perpetual light that always
shines straight down at noon
Relentless, life thrives even among
the contours of an animal’s gaping
open chest, and something is sure
to crawl and creep on every inch of
flesh on a carcass’ lifeless meat
in the forest, in the land of perpetual
sun and intermittent rainstorms
